The first time you see them, you’re probably gonna do a double take, but say hello to the future of commute in the country. Introducing the electric-powered tricycles, or simply, e-trikes.
In support of efforts to make a greener future, the government recently turned over to the city of Mandaluyong, 20 e-trikes. These energy efficient e-trikes use rechargeable lithium ion batteries, much like your laptop and cellphones, and can be docked to four available recharging stations in Mandaluyong.
Do you want one in your city? Don’t worry, plans are being made to significantly scale up the roll out of e-trikes by next year.

Pinoy Gerry Alanguilan’s “ELMER” has recently been nominated for Best Graphic Album in the 2011 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award, widely considered as the “Oscars” of the comic book industry.*
ELMER opens in an alt-Earth in the year 2003. Chicken have been sentient since a sudden awakening in 1979 and have held full human rights since a UN declaration a few months afterward, following a brief yet bloody worldwide war between humans and poultry. Yet despite the outward shows of acceptance of their newly-found fowl brethren, tensions still run high between the two sentient groups.**

Pinoy filmmaker in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight
Auraeus Solito’s “Busong” is among 21 feature films in this year’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.
The selection was announced on April 19 at noon on its official site.
His fifth feature film, Busong, is the first Palawanon indigenous film. Its title is the Palawan concept of fate or instant karma, and the film focuses on how nature reacts instantly to man’s disrespect of nature and other men.
